JSP, HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

Right from an early age I have had an interest in photography, capturing those special moments on film, family memories and beautiful vistas. I was fortunate to be given my first camera when I enlisted into the Royal Australian Navy at age 16. This camera did not leave my side and I just about wore it out capturing the exotic locations we sailed to throughout the orient and around Australia and New Zealand. It was during my second deployment to SE Asia that I purchased my first 35mm camera with a couple of lenses and started to get real serious. I began to learn the basics and through trial and error my photography improved. This camera served me well for around 15 years before I was able to purchase my first DSLR. Now rather then squirrel away my photographs into albums never to be seen again, I had the opportunity to share my passion with people across the globe through various social media platforms. Going digital also opened up a whole new world of image editing. After discharging from the Navy my wife and I began to travel, exploring this beautiful country of ours. My other two passions of 4wding and camping, that I share with my wife, provided me with access to some truly stunning countryside and here I found my niche as a landscape and nature photographer. I relish and embrace the challenges this genre of photography throw up at me; be it spending hours waiting for the light to strike a rocky granite outcrop illuminating it just right, belly crawling through scrub sneaking up on an unsuspecting kangaroo or walking miles to get the right angle or elevation. You just have to nail that one perfect image and it is all worth the effort.

Once I began to upload my images online, people began commenting and through comments and feedback I quickly realised my work was being appreciated by an ever increasing group of followers. So in June 2015 Jason Slade Photography went live on Facebook, Flickr and Instagram with just one simple goal and that is to share the beauty and enjoyment of my photography, the same beauty and enjoyment I experience everytime I look through a lens.

Over time I have been published in 4wd magazines, local calendars for Midwest Ports and the Geraldton Visitor Centre, the national Austraflora calendar as well as winning awards within the Geraldton 4wd Club. The one achievement I am most proud of is having an image of the HMAS Sydney II Memorial vinyl wrapped onto the Geraldton Visitor Centre's Visitor Information trailer. In January 2017 I graduated from the Australian Photographic Institute achieving my Diploma in Professional Photography.

In June 2017, we relocated to Gloucester NSW. Since then I have won a handful of awards and prizes for my photography. My images are used extensively to promote the local region on a national and international level and many of my images are used in advertising.

In 2020 I launched Jason Slade Photography as a business servicing the Mid Coast of NSW and JSP has become the premier commercial photography business in Gloucester.

With a wide range of services to offer clientele I can provide a solution to any imagery needs.

I thank you in advance for your support and I truly hope you enjoy my images as you browse my portfolio.
